What is a university specialism?

Universities have the option of completing the title of their degree qualifications by including references to the specialisation pathways in their own curriculum.

With specialisms, the students of the Dual Degree in Early Childhood and Primary School Education of University College Alberta Giménez (CESAG) enjoy additional specialisation without having to complete a new qualification. In a job market which requires new teachers to be specialised and have the ability to work in versatile and cross-departmental teams, being competent in a variety of working areas is a highly valuable asset.

In addition, the legislation ( Spanish Royal Decree 1594/2011, of 4 November) sets out the need for areas such as English teaching, music, physical education or educational therapy to be in the hands of specialists.
